Project
Westwood Public Media Centers
Location
Westwood, MA
Project Description
The Town of Westwood is relocating its Public Access Media Department from a rented facility to the basement of Town Hall and establishing a new Media Production Center within the Public Library. Meander Studio collaborated closely with end users to evaluate programmatic needs and develop space planning options for both sites. These options have been presented to the Town and are currently under review for selection and advancement into Construction Documentation.
This project involves the adaptive reuse of existing space within two civic buildings. At Town Hall, the focus is on reconfiguring a compact basement space to improve accessibility and meet the operational needs of the media department. At the Library, the challenge lies in sensitively integrating a new media production area into a well-loved public institution. The scope also includes selective exterior façade replacement at Town Hall as part of the renovation effort.
